Wall Street aiming to extend gains, S&P 500 targets another record
Wall Street is looking buoyant on Tuesday, and could be looking for another record-setting session, but investors are waiting for more signals from durable goods, home prices and other data.
U.S. stock futures were little changed Tuesday and European markets were slightly higher.
-Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average advanced 0.111% to 17075
-Futures on the S&P 500 index advanced 0.100% to 1996.90
-Futures on the NASDAQ 100 Advanced 0.135% to 4069.00 . As of 07:01 a.m. ET

A report on durable goods orders for July is set to release at 08:30 a.m. ET. Analysts expect an 8% gain versus a 0.7% rise in the month before, however, most of that gain is being attributed to a big month for Boeing Co.
Other data will provide investors with a fresher look at house prices. Separate data from S&P/ Case-Shiller and the Federal Housing Finance Agency is due at 09:00 a.m. At 10:00 a.m. comes out the latest reading on consumer confidence.
Although a disappointment on durable goods might hit U.S. equities, analysts expect it will not cause much volatility in markets, as the main possible catalyst to unsettle markets could only come from geopolitical tensions, amid reports the U.S. military could intervene in the Middle East again.
The U.S. dollar Index was down slightly for the day at 82.52, by earlier hit 82.61, the highest in almost 12 months, while 10-year Treasury yields were slightly lower at 2.376%.
In corporate news, Best Buy shares were up 2.53% in premarket trade after the company posted earnings that beat expectations.
Burger King Worldwide Inc’s possible takeover of Tim Hortons Inc will stay on headlines after a report by the Wall Street Journal said that Burger King is getting financial help from Warren Buffet’s Berkshire Hathaway.
