Saudi Electricity signs 2.56bn contract for Riyadh metro
Today the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) news agency reported that the Riyadh metro, which is currently under construction, will be supplied with power by the Saudi Electricity Co after that it has signed a deal worth 2.56 billion riyals.
If truth be told earlier this year in May the Saudi Public Transport Co (Saptco) collaborated with France`s Regie Autonome des Transports Parisiens (RATP) Dev to build the Riyadh metro throughout a 10-year deal known as the King Abdulaziz Project for Public Transportation.
And as an overall the Saudi government had awarded $22.5 billion in contracts back in July last year for the design and construction of the first metro rail system in Riyadh.
Also this partnership between Saptco and RATP will handle the procurement, operation and maintenance of the buses and reflects the first major shift in the kingdom`s transportation development and infrastructure.
