More than 100,000 jobs created in UAE in 2013
At least 100,000 jobs were created in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), including 38,100 jobs created by the region`s petrochemical companies generating a host of well-paying jobs last year.
According to the Gulf Petrochemicals and Chemicals Association (GPCA), the petrochemical companies in UAE are the top job creators.
The GPCA said the petrochemical sector has what they call a "multiplier effect" on the chemicals industry to boost and create more jobs opening.
This "multiplier effect" suggests that every 10 jobs created in the sector has led to an additional 30 indirect employment opportunities in the petrochemicals supply chain, which explains why the unemployment rate in the UAE averaged 3.12% from 1985 until 2012, reaching an all time high of 4.60% in 2011 and a record low of 1.15% in 1985.
At 4.30% in 2013, the jobless rate was probably little changed this year as the multiplier effect continues on creating jobs and UAE does not fail to continue on attracting more foreign investments and workers.
