UAE rank as one of the top expat destination drops sharply
As a result of the enduring rising costs of living in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, the UAE rank as one of the top expat destination dropped sharply according to HSBC’s annual Expat Explorer 2014 survey.
The survey affirmed that the UA continues to face "significant challenges due to the rising cost of living and expenses related to raising children".
Not forgetting that the UAE inflation reached its highest level in five years in September and remains on climbing gradually as a result of a stronger demand on products and services across the country.
This year actually Bahrain, Qatar and Oman are more popular destinations for expats than the UAE.
Bahrain is ranked the 5 th top expat destination; winning the best rank in the Middle East, after the world`s top three expat countries; Switzerland, Singapore and China.
After being one of the top world`s expat destinations now the UAE is ranked 15 th in the list after Qatar (13th) and Oman (14th), which could translate into lower foreign investments in the coming year in case costs of living continue on climbing.
Saudi Arabia and Kuwait were ranked 28th and 29th respectively.
