Qatar tourism climbs by 8% in the first half of 2014
Tourism in Qatar has climbed by 8% in the six months of this year, with 1.4 million of tourists visiting the rich oil Gulf country.
Almost half of a million of these tourists, or around 536,264 visitors, are from the Gulf region to represent 38% of all tourists.
The stronger tourism rate helped hotels in Qatar generate more revenue, with four and five-star hotels witnessing a 4% increase of income to QR1.98 billion while three-star hotels reached an income of QR 82.51 million.
Hotel habitation rose by 74% actually within the first half of this year from 67% from a year ago. Vacant rooms are less available by 1.9% due to visitor`s traffic.
The recent increase in the number of visitors to Qatar is only making the Gulf country more seducing and attractive to tourists around the world, but It would be boosted further in case the FIFA officially agrees to award the World Cup 2022 to Qatar.
