Emirates profits up despite rising challenges
Dubai`s Emirates airline net profit rose 8.2% to Dh1.9 billion in the first half of this year, with higher passenger traffic despite of all the challenges it faced from political instability to volatile oil prices.
Revenue inclined in the first half of the year by 11 percent to Dh44.2 billion from Dh39.8 billion within the same period the previous year.
Passengers traveling on Emirates during the first half of this year grew 8.4% to 23.3 million travelers.
55,563 employees were added to the airline workforce as well.
Emirates managed to report higher profits although it suspended many of its routes this year due to the outbreak of Ebola in West Africa and strong political turmoil in Iraq and Ukraine along with a severe unpredictable flexibly of oil prices.
“This reflects the solid foundation of its Dubai hub,” said the director of UK-based JLS Consulting, John Strickland.
