Gulf Air to launch new routes to Saudi Arabia
The national carrier of Bahrain, Gulf Air, plans to launch two new routes to Saudi Arabia in early 2015 to continue on expanding its network to the kingdom.
Starting from January 10 Gulf Air will operate new flights Gassim and Taif with four flights per week to each city.
“Bahrain’s relationship with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is a longstanding one and our national carrier’s ties to our neighbour date back to our maiden service to Dhahran in 1950," said Gulf Air acting CEO Maher Salman Al Musallam.
"Saudi Arabia is an important market for us and the launch of services to Gassim and Taif, supplementing our Dammam, Jeddah, Riyadh and Madinah operations, further demonstrates our commitment to connecting people to various destinations across Gulf Air’s network," he added.
Bahrain’s relationship with Saudi Arabia is historical dating back to centuries and, as the national carrier of Bahrain, the Kingdom has been part of the airline’s history since its beginning.
If truth be told the kingdom is a key market for the Qatari airline where more than fifteen million passengers to and from Saudi Arabia flown on Gulf Air since it opened.
