Boeing delivers first Dreamliner to Etihad Airways
Boeing delivered Etihad Airways` first 787-9 Dreamliner last Thursday, sporting the airline’s new colors and livery allowing the Abu Dhabi-based carrier to cope with its ongoing rising number of travelers from across the world.
Etihad Airways` 787-9 Dreamliner is the first among the 71 Dreamliners that the UAE carrier has on order including forty-one 787-9s and thirty 787-10. Etihad Airways will be the first airline in the Middle East to operate the 787-9.
According to Peter Baumgartner, chief commercial officer for Etihad Airways the first 787-9 Dreamliner of Etihad Airways will be flying starting this year to cities such as Düsseldorf, Washington DC, Mumbai, Brisbane and Moscow.
Boeing is aware that its profitability and survival depends mainly on overall Gulf airlines ongoing strong demand with this year alone Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways has 71 Dreamliners on order, Gulf Air has 16, Oman Air has six, Qatar Airways has 30, Royal Jordanian has seven and Saudi has eight.
Gulf major airlines are one of the century’s top aviation raw models and will be sustainable for decades to come, James McNerney, Chairman and CEO of the Boeing Company, said earlier this month.
