Saudi Arabia to open $272 hospital in Dubai
Saudi Arabia is to open this year a $272 million 300-bed hospital along with a research university in Dubai Silicon Oasis to expand its portfolio in the Gulf region; the first project outside the kingdom.
The hospital is a smart investment as "Dubai plans to attract 500,000 medical tourists a year and boost its economy by up to AED2.6 billion in the next five years" according to Dubai Silicon Oasis chairman Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al Maktoum.
In 2013, 166,000 patients were being treated at the hospital before its current expansion as the number of patients is only increasing at a fast rate.
Dubai looks forward to becoming a top medical tourism destination by 2020 besides being a tourist destination.
In the UAE, the healthcare industry is considerably expanding and facing stronger demand for quality healthcare services and ever increasing rates of diseases.
The healthcare market is expected to grow at a rate of 13.5% between 2013 and 2018
